Police are preparing for renewed firing on the Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo from Beit Jala in response to an IDF operation Wednesday night in Bethlehem during which the Islamic Jihad commander in the city was killed.
Senior Jerusalem Police commanders toured Gilo on Thursday night and decided to reissue instructions to the neighborhood on the correct procedures in case of attacks from the Palestinian town.
Medical services also heightened their state of alert in south Jerusalem and reinforced personnel.
The shooting attacks on the Jerusalem neighborhood ceased six years ago and protective barriers are still in place.
