Security cabinet discusses expanding offensive

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz met Monday with top defense officials to discuss whether to expand Israel's 27-day-old offensive in southern Lebanon, Israeli officials said. No decision on whether to intensify the operation was made, the officials said. The discussions came a day after Hizbullah rockets killed 15 people in northern Israel - including 12 reserve soldiers waiting to go into battle - in the deadliest day of rocket attacks since the violence began on July 12.
