Six people were lightly wounded overnight Saturday in an explosion likely caused by a firebomb thrown into the Sandak (godfather) pub in central Jerusalem.
The wounded were treated for smoke inhalation.
Police suspect that the firebomb was thrown by two youngsters who were denied entry to the pub during New Year's celebrations.
A search is underway for the suspects.
Meanwhile, New Year's Eve marked the launching of a road safety campaign initiated by Israel Police and the Transportation Ministry.
Army Radio reported that the plan was to address drunk driving as a major cause of traffic accidents.
In this regard, the Dan bus company planned on extending its bus service longer into the night, while taxi services would reduce their prices by 10% during New Year's Eve in order to encourage party-goers not to drive drunk.

In another crash near Ramle, a woman was killed, two others suffered moderate injuries and three more children were lightly injured after two cars collided on highway 40.
