Talks with Hamas on securing the release of captured IDF soldier Cpl. Gilad Schalit are continuing, Egyptian Intelligence Chief Omar Suleiman told a Meretz delegation in Cairo on Sunday night, adding that Egypt was still waiting for Israel's response on the issue.
Suleiman stressed that at this stage, the Egyptian security delegation would not return to the Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian Intelligence chief expressed great interest in bolstering Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, emphasizing that extreme elements must be persuaded to moderate their stances.
