The US Congress is pushing to prevent Israel from purchasing cluster bombs with American aid funds, sources said Tuesday. The Senate has recommended that countries using advanced American technology vow to use the technology against military targets only. The initiative was raised after international organizations claimed that Israel's use of cluster bombs during the second Lebanon war harmed innocent civilians. Both the House and the Senate must approve the bill in order for it to pass.
