Simha Waknin, a 50-year-old woman traveling to Jerusalem's Shaare Tzedek Hospital with her daughter-in-law, who was in labor, was killed Tuesday morning in a collision between two cars in the capital's Ramot neighborhood. Four others were lightly to moderately injured in the accident, which occurred on Yigal Yadin Street. The pregnant woman, and wife of the driver, was lightly hurt and gave birth to a healthy baby girl shortly after the crash. Waknin, who was sitting in the back seat, was taken to Hadassa Ein Kerem Hospital, but died of her injuries. Police said the 19-year-old driver of the second vehicle apparently failed to give the family right of way. Police suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol and did not have a driver's license. The teen was detained for questioning. On Saturday night, a 77-year-old Tel Aviv man was seriously injured when he was run over by his wife. Police said it appeared that the woman, 66, tried to park her car on Holon's Halutz Street, but accidentally reversed into her husband, who was directing her.
