Zalul to Haifa mayor: Stop sewage flowing into Saadiya river

Zalul deputy director Ezer Fischler demanded Wednesday Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav immediately stop the flow of sewage into the Saadiya river. Fischler sent an urgent letter to Yahav saying he had discovered an apparent leak which was spilling black, foul smelling water into the river next to the Checkpoint Junction. Saadiya eventually links up with the Kishon River, Fischler pointed out, and any more sewage would be bound to set back ongoing rehabilitation efforts on that river. The open flow of sewage also constituted a serious health risk in a crowded area, he wrote.
