Missing Torahs found, an NYC synagogue employee arrested

Eight scrolls of Hebrew Scriptures taken from a New York City synagogue were found on Thursday and a synagogue employee was arrested on charges of stealing them. The Torahs were valued at around $500,000. They were taken in August from the Jewish Center of Kew Gardens Hills in Queens. Rabbis discovered them missing before a service. Many of the congregants are Holocaust survivors, and the Torahs had been dedicated to their families. On Thursday, police arrested a maintenance worker and an alleged accomplice on charges of criminal possession of stolen property.
