Several white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups across the United States are planning to hold events commemorating Adolf Hitler's birthday, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) reported Thursday. Racist rallies, marches, cookouts and other events will be held in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Portland, Houston and Morganton to celebrate the Nazi dictator for his legacy of racism, anti-Semitism and hate. ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman has voiced concern over the coinciding of Hilter's birthday, April 20, with the first day of Pessah. "There is always a concern when the extremist groups use a calendar event as a rallying point to recruit members and to promote anti-Semitism, racism and bigotry," said Foxman. "Hitler's birthday has a special resonance for extremists, not only because of what Adolf Hitler represents, but because there have been violent and deadly attacks directly associated with this date in the past. It is especially troubling since Hitler's birthday falls on the first day of Passover this year." The ADL has compiled a list of events planned for Hitler's birthday. Among the events are an April 19 march "against illegal immigration" planned by the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement in Washington D.C., and a "racialist cookout" in Morganton planned by Stormfront, an Internet forum popular among white supremacists and anti-Semites. An "Adolf Hitler Memorial and BBQ" planned in association with the neo-Nazi Hammerskin Nation in Houston will involve live entertainment and a swastika lighting.
