The Quartet's Middle East envoy, Tony Blair, said that the establishment of a Palestinian state by the end 2008 was possible. In comments to the London-based newspaper Ashark Alawsat published Saturday, Blair said that he knew US President George Bush very well and that he would not have set such a goal if he didn't believe it was possible to reach a peace deal during his presidential term.
