Lebanon: One killed in explosion in Palestinian refugee camp

Palestinian and Lebanese security officials say one person was killed and four wounded in an explosion in a Palestinian refugee camp in south Lebanon. The officials say the explosion occurred Tuesday afternoon close to al-Nour Mosque in the Ein el-Hilweh refugee camp on the outskirts of the southern city of Sidon. They say it is not clear what the explosion targeted. They were speaking on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the media. Ein el-Hilweh has in recent weeks seen clashes and assassinations between members of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah group and militants from Jund al-Sham, a group that follows the extremist ideology of al-Qaida.
