Report: Hizbullah extends Nasrallah's term

Kuwaiti paper reports special ruling by Ayatollah Khamenei made extension possible; Mugniyeh to be replaced.

Hizbullah's general convention gathered in recent weeks and decided to extend the term of the group's chief, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, a Kuwaiti paper reported Saturday. According to the report, the decision was based on a religious ruling written by the spiritual ruler of Iran, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. It was also reported that the organization planned to appoint a replacement for assassinated Hizbullah arch-terrorist Imad Mugniyeh, identified as Hizbullah veteran Mustafa Shahada. Shahada was described by the paper "very aware of [Hizbullah's] aspirations, and knows how to carry out its aims in the present, and long term." The Jerusalem Post could not confirm the report. Last month, Nasrallah he referred to Mugniyeh's assassination, and warned "whoever killed [him] should be worried."
