Turkey's state-run news agency says police have detained a suspected female suicide bomber who was preparing to attack a police station in the country's south.
The Anatolia news agency says the woman was caught carrying explosives and a detonator in a taxi on Wednesday, about 50 meters (yards) from the police station in the town of Tarsus, and that it was probably her intended target.
Anatolia says the woman had been under police surveillance for some time.
It was not clear if she was member of the outlawed, autonomy-seeking Kurdistan Workers' Party. The group has used female suicide bombers in past attacks.
