The United States is reportedly putting pressure on Fatah leaders as well as other potential opposition movements in the Palestinian Authority to refuse to participate in a Hamas-led government. Palestinian sources said that Washington even warned them that the US will cut off all relations with them if they enter the government that Hamas is currently trying to form. The British newspaper the Financial Times reported Saturday that the US is interested in seeing Hamas tackling the difficult task of running the government alone, with the hope that it will then take full responsibility for its expected failure in doing so.
