Rice planning visit to Mideast in near future

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announced Thursday night that she intended to visit the Middle East in the near future in order to revive negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. Rice told reporters in New York at the conclusion of a meeting of the UN Security Council that had not yet set a date for the visit. Also present at the UNSC meeting were representatives of the Arab League, as well as Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Gillerman, who attended in place of Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
