Iraqi police said that a suicide bomber slammed his car into a police checkpoint in the western Anbar province, killing eight people and wounding seven policemen.
A security official said that Saturday's attack occurred on the highway east of Baghdad, near the once Sunni insurgent stronghold of Ramadi.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information to the media.
