President Bashar Assad of Syria met Turkey's leader at a coastal resort in Turkey on Tuesday.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan greeted Assad at the airport in the Aegean resort of Bodrum, ahead of talks between the two leaders.
Turkey has hosted several rounds of indirect peace talks between Syria and Israel.
Turkish and Syrian officials have refused to comment on the details of Assad's schedule. Turkish media say the Syrian president is vacationing with his wife in Turkey.
