UK's defense secretary says Iran's meddling in Iraq is on the wane

British Defense Secretary Des Browne says Iran appears to be interfering less in Iraq. Britain has previously accused Tehran of funding and arming Shiite militias that have attacked coalition troops. But Browne told lawmakers on Monday that he believed there is evidence that Iran is no longer aiding insurgents in the neighboring country to the same extent. He did not say what the evidence was. Some lawmakers have asked whether Iran has instead focussed on aiding attacks against NATO forces in Afghanistan. Browne said he had no evidence to support their claim.
