A US Army soldier was killed in Baghdad, the US command said Friday. The Multinational Division-Baghdad serviceman died during combat operations on Thursday, the military said, without provide any other details. The victim's name was being withheld pending notification of relatives. The deaths raised at least 2,886 the number of U.S. service members who have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
