US soldier dies of wounds from Baghdad bombing

A US soldier was killed in a roadside bombing earlier this week in Baghdad, the military said Saturday. The Multi-National Division, Baghdad soldier was taken to the combat support hospital after being seriously wounded in the blast on Wednesday but later died of those wounds, according to a statement. The announcement raised to at least 127 US troop deaths in May, the third-deadliest month for American forces since the war started in March 2003. It followed April 2004, when 135 Americans died and November 2004 with 137. In all, at least 3,479 members of the US military have died in the Iraqi conflict, according to an Associated Press count based on military statements.
