US troops kill 3 militants after coming under fire near Baghdad airport

The US military says American soldiers have killed three gunmen who opened fire on them near the Baghdad International Airport.
A statement says the soldiers were part of a convoy that was stopped on the roadside and came under attack by militants in a vehicle.
The military says the three militants died after return fire caused their vehicle to run off the road and strike a wall before exploding.
It says Wednesday's attack caused no US casualties.
