Gazan child injured by IDF mortar treated in Israel

8-year-old boy's transfer into Israel coordinated with PA; Israel offers medical treatment to civilians injured by IDF mortar strike.

An eight-year-old boy from Gaza who was seriously injured by an IDF mortar shell was transferred to an Israeli hospital on Wednesday.
The IDF's Gaza Coordination Liaison Administration said that the boy was transferred into Israel by ambulance after it coordinated with the Palestinians.

Through the Palestinian Authority, Israel offered to provide medical treatment to those injured following yesterday's IDF mortar strike that killed four civilians.
The strike, which followed a series of mortar launches that landed in Israeli territory, was aimed at the launch site. The IDF shells apparently struck an area close to a home and playground, where the terrorists had used as a launch pad.
Palestinians reported that four people – aged 58, 12, 16 and 17 – were killed in the strike.
The IDF said that the Southern Command was investigating the incident, but stressed that Hamas was responsible for choosing to operate from within populated areas.
