A Jerusalem woman was found murdered and dismembered in her apartment by police Tuesday morning, allegedly at the hands of her ex-husband, who was arrested at the scene.
According to Israel Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, the unidentified victim, who he said was in her early 40s, was found in the bathroom of her home in the neighborhood of Neve Yaakov, late in the morning.
“The main suspect is her ex-husband, who caused her grievous bodily harm before the murder and when the murder took place,” said Rosenfeld of the suspect, who is being held by police for further questioning.
“Police were called into the [apartment], including forensics officers, to examine the crime scene,” he added. “The ex-husband was present at the time of arrival and was arrested for the murder.”
Due to a gag order, Rosenfeld said he was unable to disclose further details of what he described as an “immensely disturbing” crime scene, pending further investigation.
Despite numerous erroneous news reports claiming that the suspect was in the home with his current wife and two small children, Rosenfeld said the unidentified murderer was alone in the apartment with the exwife before and after police arrived.
