Marcus Brown, Maccabi Tel Aviv's newest recruit, flew out with the team to Croatia on Tuesday and is set to make his debut in Maccabi's Euroleague opener against Cibona Zagreb on Thursday. The 34-year-old, who inked a one-year deal on Monday, is the Euroleague's all-time leading scorer with 2,312 points, and has averaged 16.5 points, 2.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 140 games in European basketball's premier competition. Brown began this season at Zalgiris Kaunas, but was allowed to leave after the Lithuanian club ran into financial difficulties. "I'm excited to be here," Brown said upon his arrival at Ben-Gurion Airport on Monday. "I'm here to win and I'll do all I can so that will happen." Maccabi will be hoping Brown can solve two of the more urgent problems the team has encountered in the preseason. Brown hit 41.8 percent of his three-pointer attempts last season and should vastly improve Tel Aviv's perimeter shooting. The former Benetton Treviso, Efes Pilsen, CSKA Moscow and Unicaja Malaga player will also give Maccabi some much needed Euroleague experience and help Carlos Arroyo with the ball handling. "Arryo and I are experienced players and I'm sure we will get along," Brown said. "I've played with many great players and I have no problem taking a step back or a step forward when needed."
