It was a double Israeli win in Miami, Florida, last weekend when junior golfers Roy Steinberg and Laetitia Beck were both victorious in their respective sections in the Doral Silver Classic Tournament held at Doral Country Club. The pair were products of the Golf Academy at the Caesarea Golf Cluband are currently studying at the International Management Group Golf Academy in Florida in the golf programme. Steinberg, 17, is in his senior year and 16-year-old Beck in her second year. Cyril Kaufman, Chairman of the Israel Golf Federation was delighted with the Israeli wins. "This is a wonderful result for both these outstanding golfers and a great day for Israeli sport and Israeli golf in particular," he said. Competing in the Boy's 16-18 yrs section, Steinberg fired an opening round of three under par 68 on Saturday, playing the front side three under with no bogeys. On Sunday he improved with a bogey-free round of t wo par 69 to increase his lead from 1one stroke to three. While his final round of 75 was not as exciting as his first two, it was enough for Steinberg to finish with at one under par and earn him his first FCWT title. Beck began with an opening round of two under par in the Girls 13-18 section on Saturday. The round of 68 included six birdies giving her a two shot lead. She faltered somewhat on Sunday with a 75 to be tied at the top. But on Monday, the Israeli bounced back by posting the low round of the day, a one over par 72. After bogeying her opening hole she followed by 17 pars. This second win of the season for Beck makes her a strong candidate for the All-American FCWT first team.
