Israeli kayaker Michael Kalganov ended his Olympic competition on Thursday when he failed to reach the final of the 500-meter event. Kalganov had finished fourth in the semi-final, raising hopes that he could win a medal, but his effort came up short. The veteran sportsman, who holds a bronze medal from the Sydney 2000 games, started strong in the first 200 meters but then slowed down and finished 4th in his semi-final heat in a time of 1:43:145 minutes.
