Israel's surfers bowed out of the Neil Pryde World Windsurfing Championships at Lake Garda in Trentino, Italy, on Friday, the final day of qualifying. None of Israel's representatives lived up to high pre-championship expectations and they all finished outside the top 10 and failed to reach Saturday's medal race. The world championships in Italy are the first to be held since the International Sailing Federation chose to change from the Mistral board to the Neil Pryde model and Israel's surfers clearly suffered. Olympic champion Gal Fridman climbed four places and ended the championships in 19th after finishing in 12th in the day's only race. Sahar Tzubari dropped one place to 34th overall after finishing in 44th on Friday. Nimrod Mashiah fell five places to 67th after not finishing the race. In the women's competition, Lee Korzits dropped seven places to 30th overall after also not finishing her race.
