The Israeli doubles superstars, who grew up together studying and playing tennis at the Wingate Institute, are the only pair on this list to be included separately. The reason is quite simple. While Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich have consistently improved over the last few years into one of the best doubles teams in the world, they have also achieved success individually. It is more Ram than Erlich who has grabbed the limelight in recent years, winning two major mixed doubles tournaments - the 2007 French Open with Nathalie Dechy and Wimbledon 2006 with Vera Zvonareva. Both Ram and Erlich are originally from South America, Ram hailing from Uruguay and Erlich from Argentina. But they are now Israeli through and through and proudly claimed their first major tournament at the Australian Open this year, becoming the first Israeli team to win a Grand Slam and waving the Israeli flag all over the court after their victory.
