Windsurfing: Tzuberi in position for a medal at Worlds

With just two days of racing left, Shahar Tzuberi is ideally positioned to claim a medal at the Neil Pryde World Championships at Takapuna beach in New Zealand. The 21-year-old Israeli climbed from fourth to second overall on Thursday, finishing his races in the ninth and second places respectively. Tuzberi trails local favorite Tom Ashely by nine points and is three points ahead of Poland's Miarczy Przemyslaw. Olympic champion Gal Fridman, who has to finish ahead of Tzuberi to qualify for the Beijing Games, ended the day in 29th position (35, 16). Israel can only send one participant to the Olympic competition and Tzuberi has already met the Olympic criteria by finishing in eighth position in last year's championships. Fridman also trails Nimord Mashiah, who is currently in 16th place (4, 29). In the women's competition, Lee Korzits fell from 16th place to 21st (34, 15) and Ma'ayan Davidovitch dropped from 27th to 30th (32, 26). Korzits and Davidovitch must finish among the top-10 in the championships to qualify for the Olympics.
