Over the last week or so, at least six incidents of antisemitism took place in South Africa in just two days.
Mpho Phalatse, who heads the city's health and development portfolio, was slammed for her statement that "the City of Joburg stand with Israel."
Recent incidents include an antisemitic rant at Johannesburg's international airport, a swastika mural and hateful comments on social media.
Antisemitic tweets attacking the S. African Jewry also goes viral on Thursday
"It reveals their real face. They don't care about Palestinian rights. They stand against coexistence and peace and we need to call them out on this."
The petition, which was started by the South African Friends of Israel "demand[s] that the SA Government cease in its efforts to cut ties with the state of Israel."
This is the second mosque to be targeted in a month.
