It’s the second time this month the UAE has called for the UNSC to meet on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Price said that while the US' immediate goal is not to bring the parties together to negotiate a solution, it aims to support them as they work to deescalate tensions.
The conversation took place ahead of the expected UN Security Council vote on a resolution regarding Israeli settlements drafted by the UAE.
The Biden administration doesn't “view the UN as the most practical or useful forum for discussing this issue,” said Principal Deputy Spokesperson Patel.
