Liron Kichler, 15, and Erez Ilan, 18, were each awarded a NIS 10,000 first prize at the close of the 12th Mia Arbatova Ballet Competition on Saturday. Each of the 11 finalists performed two solos, one from the classical ballet repertoire and another from the works of five top contemporary composers including Jiri Kilian, Mats Ek and Ohad Naharin. This year's competition was dedicated to Moshe Lazrah, one of Arbatova's principal dancers, who died in February.
