The Jerusalem Municipal Art Gallery has dedicated a new exhibition to the memory of the late mayor of Jerusalem Teddy Kollek, who died this past January. The exhibition, entitled "The Lion That Became Silent - Teddy in the Eyes of Artists" opened on Sunday. Aside from his role as mayor, Kollek was recognized for playing an active role in promoting the development of Jerusalem's cultural institutions. Kollek was also the founder, director and chairman of the Israel Museum. He also played a key role in the development and success of the Municipal Art Gallery, one of the first of its kind in Israel. "The Lion That Became Silent" displays works from both Israeli and international artists, including American artist George Segal. It will be open to the public through June 15.
