This year's Israel Children's Theater Prize ceremony will honor some remarkable people whose efforts have raised the standard of theater offered to children.

This year's Israel Children's Theater Prize ceremony on September 11 at the Suzanne Dellal Center will honor some remarkable people whose efforts have raised the standard of theater offered to children.
Chief among these is actress Orna Porat, who in 1970 established the Children and Youth Theater - which is today named for her. She and movie producer/director Menahem Golan will each receive a reward for life achievement from Assitej, the International Children's Theater Association of which Israel is a member.
Also receiving a life achievement prize is playwright Ilana Loft, whose plays include Shmaryahu and La Fontaine, her adaptation of the famous fables currently running at the Gesher theater.
Meanwhile, there are 18 plays vying for the title of Best Production that will be awarded for three age groups: the very young, children and youth. These include Following the Dog from the Nefesh Theater, Uzu and Muzu from Kakaruzu from the Holon Mediatheque, Uri from the National Youth Theater, and from the Orna Porat Theater for Children and Youth Theater are Pajama Party and Zig Zag Kids.
Prizes in the various categories - Best Actor/Actress, Playwright, Director and so forth - are worth NIS 10,000 each. A seven-member jury will choose the winners.
