Kessem shel Agada (Magical Myths) will celebrate its 18th birthday this year with three days of theater events for the small set at the Suzanne Dellal Center in Tel Aviv, from August 19 to 21. This year's Kessem features new versions of beloved children's stories, such as the premiere of The Emperor's New Clothes (ages five-nine), Gulliver's Travels (four and up) Noah's Ark (six-10), Puss in Boots, the musical version (three-eight), and Jerusalem's Train Theater's puppet version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears (four-seven). Other premieres include the Goshen Theater's Joseph the Dreamer, based on the biblical Joseph (ages six-12), Chelm, a musical based on the ever-so-wise men of Chelm (four and up), and another puppet play from the Train, Across the Sea (four-nine), based on poems by Bialik. There's also storytelling for the two-to-four-year-olds, and every afternoon on the plaza at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., there will be free events featuring The Young Tel Avivians dance group, Dana Dvorin, clowns and more. The shows are about an hour each, run from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. and cost from NIS 30-70.
