This autumn is shaping up to be a star-studded one. According to Ynet, Hollywood stars Ben Stiller, Chris Rock and Jada Pinkett Smith, and producer Jeffrey Katzenberg, will attend the Israeli premiere of their animated film Madagascar 2 at the Globus Max theater at the Poleg junction in Netanya. Katzenberg, who accompanied Jerry Seinfeld to Israel last year for the premiere of the comedian's animated debut Bee Movie, evidently thought the effort was worthwhile. The original Madagascar in 2005 was a top-draw here and the sequel will start screening in local cinemas during Hanukka. Meanwhile, rock legend Lou Reed will be joining his wife, performance artist Laurie Anderson, onstage as a guest artist for part of her two shows here next month - November 3 at the Mann Auditorium and November 4 at the Tel Aviv port's Reading 3. Reed last performed here in a scorching rock 'n roll show in 2000. Anderson last played here in 2002. And finally, three veteran pop acts will be making their way here. Next month will see former UB40 lead singer Ali Campbell perform at Hangar 11 on November 20, along with reggae masters Sly & Robbie. And in January, '80s soul popster Paul Young is slated to play three shows - in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa. Ok, exhale now.
