The Israel Opera (IO) and the Arts and Culture Authority (ACA) have joined forces in a multidisciplinary dance start-up called Emerging Dance at the Center. The idea is to expand horizons beyond movement, "and to give young and local artists a boost," says IO general director Hannah Munitz. "The opera is known for its large productions, often with internationally known artists, but we also want to create more intimate events that reflect our local culture." On December 7 three works by young choreographers will premiere at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, combining dance with the performing or plastic arts. They are "Helen of Troy Does Counter Dancing" by Itai Yitov and IO director Julia Pevsner, "Sketches for a Drowning Man" by Shelli Palmon and Just Touching by Zehava Padanes and Oren Breier.
