Earth, fire, air and water are the secondary themes of the 17th and multi-disciplinary Room Dance Festival that opens November 1 at Gerard Bechar Theater in Jerusalem and on November 10 at ZOA House in Tel Aviv. Room Dance founder, artistic director and dancer Amos Hetz says that the genre "seeks to restore honor to the solo dancer."
Hetz is one of 12 dancers, plus guest artist Ursula Ritter from Germany whose "Five Geometries" solo responds to screened geometric images by Dieter Tr stedt. Hetz presents "Four Songs," a work in dialogue with foreign languages set to original music by Kiki Keren-Hos.
Other works include Dana Bar's "Two" set to Greek folk music, "Time to Come" that Zehava Bronovski builds around oriental dance traditions and Portrait by Roni Heller in which she dances with a pile of clothes.
The second half of each of the four programs is a work built around on one of those four elements: program A is earth, B/air, C/fire, D/water.
