Yesterday marked the opening of the ninth annual Jewish Film Festival. Over 50 films on Jewish themes will be screened through December 9 at the Jerusalem Cinematheque.
This year's festival opened with Etz o Palestine, a documentary about the building of the pre-State Jewish community in Palestine. Other films focus on issues such as faith and practice, history, culture, music, contemporary life in Israel and the Diaspora, Judaism's relationship with other world religions and Jewish identity.
The festival, held annually since 1999, attracts submissions from filmmakers in Israel and around the world.
