It may sound odd, but Caterpillar, the multi-national corporation best known for its construction and farm equipment, now has a line of "essential accessories" for men, among them wallets. The wallets come in the same basic colors as the mechanical products produced by the company: brown, camel, black and gray. They're made out of soft leather that intentionally looks somewhat used. Our test subject was happy with the brown wallet, with the Caterpillar logo written in big letters on the front, which was found to be practical and had enough space for banknotes, coins and credit cards. The price for the wallets, which come with a five-year warranty, is NIS 249 to NIS 299.
Men who don't like to walk around with a big wallet, but need a place mainly for their credit cards, can try the small wallet made by Rudi. This is supposedly magnetic too, so any loose shekels in your pocket will stick to the outside, or you can stick it on the door of your fridge. Not all coins stick to it, though. We tried 10 agorot coins and US quarters, and the wallet failed the test, though it works fine with NIS 1 pieces. Biotherm Homme Ultra Comfort is a soothing after shave moisturizing balm, with so-called "cashmere technology" intended to leave you with cashmere soft skin. The Ultra Comfort was reported to be very soothing and to provide moisturizer without leaving the skin feeling greasy. The balm contains pure oils, ceramides, which prevent skin from drying out, as well as pure extract of thermal plankton; a 75 ml. bottle is NIS 170.
The person who tested the Calvin Klein Man fragrance judged this to be a manly scent, rather spicy, with notes of nutmeg, spearmint and rosemary, as well as spiced woods. The design of the bottle is minimalist and powerful, a square black bottle with silver metallic edges. This cologne definitely has sex appeal. A 50 ml. bottle is NIS 338, and 100 ml. is NIS 456.
Ted Lapidus's new fragrance Altamir was thought to be an interesting scent, a deep, rich smell one associates with "rugged." The "oriental" fragrance contains notes of neroli, bergamot, orange blossom, jasmine, patchouli and sandalwood, among others; Altamir is the name of a site in Spain. The color of the cologne is that of whiskey, and its bottle is boxy and masculine. A 75 ml. bottle is NIS 399, and 125 ml. is NIS 499.
