For those who prefer a richer flavor to their coffee, the new Nescafe Alta Rica and Cap Colombie instant coffees will be a welcome variation. The Alta Rica has a bold and intense taste, while the Cap Colombie is supposedly rich and smooth. Both coffees are available in the Supersol chain, at NIS 29.90 for a 100 gr. jar. Adama has a new type of organic bread made with whole wheat, rye and quinoa, the latter a grain rapidly gaining popularity with healthy eaters. One loaf is NIS 16.90. The Gad dairies have a new ricotta cheese, containing just 5 percent fat, as well as an ingredient that improves absorption of calcium by the body by some 20%. This natural ricotta cheese was quite tasty in a vegetable pie I whipped up; a 250 gr. container is NIS 7.70. The new Starkist Snacks, in cans about half the size of the regular tuna, come in three varieties: tuna salad, tuna pate and salmon pate. Each small can comes with a package of four crackers, a spoon and napkin, making it a handy and healthy snack to take out of the house. (Too bad the crackers were already crumbs when I opened them up.) The price of Starkist Snacks varies from NIS 6.49 to NIS 7. To make it easier to prepare a heart-warming soup on cold winter nights, Sanfrost now has a frozen mix for "orange soup" containing sweet potato, carrot, pumpkin, potato, onion and celery. You can add cream and herbs according to your own taste. An 800 gr. package is NIS 20. La Molisana is a pasta brand imported from the south of Italy that is very rich in protein. La Molisana comes in three different series: basic (with a blue stripe on the package), regional (with a green stripe) and prepared with eggs (with the Bordeaux stripe). Prices vary from NIS 9.90 for a standard package to NIS 23.90 for the lasagna prepared with eggs. La Molisana is available in delicatessens (for example Spices or Kelim VeTa'amim), and in Supersol Big stores. It shouldn't be difficult to get your child to eat pizza, but if you want to make it even more tempting, try the new Ma'adanot Safari pizza, which comes in animal shapes. The kids can choose among an elephant, giraffe, lion or zebra; a 600 gr. package, containing nine pizzas, is NIS 23.60. Tnuva's Piraeus cheeses have two new types: hemed, a slightly salted light cheese, containing 5% fat, and labene with olive oil and za'atar. The hemed comes in a container that can easily be resealed; the price is NIS 12.40 for 250 gr. The labene is NIS 10 for a 267 gr. container.
