The "spin" comes to Instagram: the successful social network of Meta is about to finish developing a new feature that will allow you to upload a post with sound or text published by another user, who will receive credit for the repeated publication.

The new feature, which is reportedly called "Spins" for the time being, will be used in the Reels option and will be a kind of clone of the Tiktok function that allows the reuse of another user's audio. Instagram responded by saying that the spins feature is an internal prototype, and has not yet been released as a beta version for external testing.

The spins feature can be used as a way for users to start trends by creating templates that others can then create their own videos from. If there is a user-created pattern, the text or audio in it can be replaced to change the meaning to fit a different scenario.

For example, you can take a video of the parrot in the house opening its mouth, then share it with audio of a yawn. Likewise, if you put your own spin on it, someone else can reshare the video and replace the text with their own version. As mentioned, according to reports, it appears that creators will receive credit for their original reels. Users will also be able to turn the feature on and off to prevent others from using elements from the video you created.

The spins function is different by the way from the Remix feature that already exists in Reels which is a clone of Tiktok's duet feature, which allows you to appear in a video next to an original video, side by side, to offer a commentary or response. Spins on the other hand will allow a bit more creativity in cooperation.

If released, the new feature will give Reels users and viewers access to functionality not available on Tik Tok. Given that Reels is basically a copycat of TikTok with the same features, adding the "spins" will introduce little difference between the two products. And as with any other prototype, it is not known when Instagram will publicly launch the new feature.
