Shoes or cosmetics: what do Israelis buy during the "November holidays"?

The shopping holidays begin in November with the Chinese Singles Day (Singles Day) which falls on 11/11, then Black Friday will take place on 11/26, and the following Monday on 11/29 Cyber Monday, which mainly includes discounts on electronics and computer websites. In the month of December, the Christmas discounts will begin in the world, and in Israel, from the beginning of November, a wide variety of discounts will be offered on the various Israeli trade websites.

From the survey conducted by the Israel Post in collaboration with the research institute Shilov R2I, in preparation for the shopping holidays, it was found that:

The preferred international websites during the shopping holidays: AliExpress is the leading website, followed by Amazon, in third place eBay, Shein, Asos, and in fourth place - Next The preferred Israeli websites during the shopping holidays: KSP is the leading site, followed by Super Pharm and Terminal X.

In third place: Shufersal (not food), Walla Shops, Castro, and Zara Israel.

The preferred categories during the shopping holidays: clothing in first place, followed by footwear, and in third place - cosmetics, household appliances, gadgets, electrical and electronic products. 26% of shoppers during the shopping holidays intend to buy from international websites up to 75 dollars per purchase, 35% will spend between 76-200 dollars and 21% will spend over 201 dollars.

The survey, which was conducted at the end of October in a national and representative sample of 623 residents of Israel, men and women, Jews and Arabs, aged 18 and over, shows that 34% of those who intend to shop during the shopping holidays will increase the scope of their shopping this year compared to the previous year, and 42% stated that they would not Change in the purchase amount. 18% of those intending to shop during the shopping holidays testified that they started ordering online for the first time during the corona virus, and they prefer to continue shopping online even today.

Danny Goldstein, CEO of Israel Post, said: "The corona affects the nature of the shopping holidays, when during the corona the public got used to ordering online, and continues to do so at the same time as shopping in the physical stores. The shopping holiday discounts will allow customers to order more items in Israel and abroad at significant discounts, and we are preparing for this period months in advance, including investing in a new sorting machine that sorts thousands of packages an hour without human contact, opening additional delivery centers and providing extensive digital information."

"This year, approximately 15 million packages from abroad are expected to arrive in Israel in the months of November-December, a similar number to the previous year, when the weight of the packages is expected to grow by approximately 25% compared to the previous year, to approximately 5,000 tons," added Goldstein, "the majority of the public mainly orders Clothing and footwear, but also household tools, cosmetics and electronics, when we see that many customers also order products over 75 dollars."

Most buyers will buy during the shopping holidays up to 200 dollars per purchase on international websites and up to NIS 500  per purchase on Israeli websites.

According to the survey, 71% of shoppers during the shopping holidays intend to buy clothing and 43% intend to buy footwear.

Other leading categories are cosmetics, perfumes and makeup (31%), housewares (30%), gadgets (30%), electrical and home electronics (29%), toys (24%), smartphones and phone accessories (22%) and health products and nutritional supplements (20%).
