While some areas near the border may not be considered safe for travel, it is important to remember that there are plenty of areas in the Galilee region that are far from the conflict and continue to operate tourism businesses, eagerly awaiting visitors. We have discovered some hidden gems in the Western Galilee that are perfect for a much-needed relaxing getaway.

tin time studio

Living in Galon, artist Paula Reichen found herself surrounded by the topic of recycling. In the Western Galilee village where she has resided for 17 years, there are no garbage bins, only recycling centers. Out of necessity, Paula began transforming canned food boxes into various household items such as lamps and clocks. This artistic endeavor soon grew, and she now runs a studio called tin time, offering workshops that showcase the art of creating unique artwork from everyday objects.

We had the pleasure of trying one of Paula's upcoming workshops dedicated to Family Day. With bottle caps, buttons, and toy fragments, we created charming faces that came to life under Paula's guidance.

The workshop will be held on February 9th, and the cost is 30 shekels per participant or 100 shekels for a family of 4. For more details and reservations, please call: 072-3971600 .

Yakabishur Winery

Surrounded by the lush green landscapes and vineyards of the Galilee, the Yakabishur Winery boasts a beautifully designed visitor center. However, the true essence of the winery lies in its exceptional wines, which possess depth and soul. What makes Yakabishur Winery unique is its location within the Kishorit village, home to around 200 adults with special needs who actively participate in the vineyard and winemaking process.

The winery's story began during the Second Lebanon War in 2006 when Shuki Levinger and Yael Shiloh established Kishorit to raise funds for shelters to protect the village residents from bombings. An English donor provided funding for the establishment of a winery as an industrial and tourism branch. Since then, the winery has flourished, producing acclaimed wines that have gained recognition in Israel and internationally.

Visiting the winery's visitor center offers a unique experience, including training on the wine production process, a tour among the aging oak barrels, and a guided wine tasting. Alongside the wines, guests are served homemade finger foods, labneh, olives, cheeses, and vegetables.

The visitor center is open from Sunday to Friday between 10:00-15:00. To arrange a visit and order wine, please call: 072-3957565.
