Rebar, in collaboration with the DMC Medical Center, is launching a series of beverages tailored for diabetics in celebration of Diabetes Awareness Month. Rebar is connecting with the DMC Medical Center for diabetes and obesity treatment and adding a series of beverages to its menu based solely on fruit sugar, without the addition of honey or silicone, and using a sugar-free yogurt base.

The new series was born out of the growing need of customers for reduced carbohydrate options and includes four new beverages, based on four of the most popular beverages on the menu.

These beverages have reduced carbohydrate content by at least 25% compared to regular beverages. The small-sized beverages contain between 17-30 grams of carbohydrates per serving, thereby meeting the nutritional requirements for diabetics. The new beverages will be sold at the network's branches at the same price as their regular counterparts, and in honor of the launch, they will receive a 25% discount between the dates 12-18 November 2023.

According to Iris Gilan, Marketing Vice President of rebar: "Regularly, our customers can make changes to all of our beverages in order to meet diverse nutritional preferences and needs. Since we aim to do good for everyone, we have gladly accepted the offer from DMC Medical Center to launch unique recipes alongside our popular ones, so that even diabetics can enjoy without limitations. In this challenging process, we have successfully met the needs of diabetics in small-sized beverages, without compromising the consumption experience and ensuring that the beverages are tasty and indulgent. While the new series was specifically developed for diabetic patients, it is ideal for anyone looking to reduce carbohydrate intake or sugar content without compromising on taste."

According to Einat Mazor Barkar, a diabetes dietitian at DMC: "Balanced diabetes management is the result of several factors, including individually tailored nutrition, physical activity, continuous and adequate sleep, and stress management (which, especially during these times, is clearly a part of our lives in this country). Low-carbohydrate foods have become popular in recent years and assist diabetics in balancing their sugar levels while enhancing enjoyment of eating.

Fresh fruit shakes are typically high in sugar and therefore could not be part of a balanced menu for diabetes, but today, the rebar chain has 'raised the glove' and created a line of low-carbohydrate beverages compared to their original versions, without added sugars, and incorporating ingredients based on protein (yogurt or protein powder) or healthy fat (different nuts, flaxseed, chia), which can affect the sugar response after consuming the shake. The amount of carbohydrates in each shake is equivalent to one to two servings of carbohydrates depending on the shake (equal to about 2 slices of bread) and can be integrated into a balanced and healthy menu, even though they are not defined as low-carbohydrate."

Together with this, in the era of personalized nutrition, it is known that there is variation in the sugar response of different individuals to different foods and drinks.

Therefore, it is recommended to monitor sugar levels before and after various shakes, either using a glucometer (fingerstick blood sugar monitor), or a continuous glucose monitor without puncturing the skin, in order to track sugar levels.

This is to understand how the composition of each shake affects your personal sugar levels and make the appropriate choice for you. In light of the current situation, the network branches operate according to the guidelines of the Home Front Command. You can stay updated on operating hours and types of training through the application.
