Abbas in France on diplomatic blitz after Knesset okays settlement law

Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abba has set off on an international diplomatic blitz following the Knesset's approval late Monday of controversial legislation retroactively legalizing some 4,000 Israeli settler homes built on privately-owned Palestinian land in the West Bank.
Abbas arrived in Paris on Tuesday to meet with French President Francois Hollande along with contenders for the country's upcoming election in April. Abbas was also expected to address the French Parliament and Senate about the Israeli move.
Meanwhile on Tuesday morning, Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riad Malki condemned the new Israeli law and called on the international community to take action.
The Palestinian "leadership is reviewing various Arab and international reactions to the the settlements law," he told the "Voice of Palestinian" radio station. "The international community has the responsibility to settle accounts with the crimes of the occupation government and of its settlements. Only then, will we decided where to turn."
