A failed rocket launch attempt was carried out in the area of the West Bank surrounding Jenin on Sunday morning, according to the IDF.

The improvised launcher was located adjacent to the town of Silat al-Harithiya. Reuters reported that the armed branch of the Hamas group calling itself Al-Ayyash group claimed responsibility for the launch.

Nobody was hurt and no property was damaged, according to preliminary reports.

This is the seventh such attempt to fire rockets into Israel in recent months.

Gilboa Regional Council head Oved Nur released a statement on Sunday entreating the IDF to bolster security measures in the region, particularly with regards to rocket fire preparedness.

"We demand that an Iron Dome [system] be deployed in our area and act proactively in the Gilboa regional territory to reduce...harm to citizens of Israel," he wrote.

Previous rocket fire attempt from Jenin

The Palestinian al-Ayyash Brigades terrorist group claimed to have fired a rocket from the Jenin area toward the Israeli town of Shaked in mid-August, with the IDF saying the attempt to fire the rocket failed and the launcher and remains of the rocket had been located.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated that sappers arrived at the scene to examine the rocket remains and the findings would be handled by security forces. IDF soldiers were conducting a manhunt for the Palestinians suspected of being behind the rocket fire attempt.

The al-Ayyash Brigades have made repeated claims of rocket fire toward Shaked, with shrapnel found in the area after at least some of the claims were made. The group has also published videos of members of the group firing rudimentary rockets.
