Two Arab Israelis killed in shootings in Haifa and Rahat

The 18-year-old boy killed in Rahat had been lightly injured in a shooting about two weeks ago.

Two people were shot and killed in separate incidents in Haifa and Rahat on Saturday night, according to Israel Police.

In Haifa, a man in his 50's was shot and killed outside a restaurant in Haifa. The man was transferred in critical condition to Rambam Medical Center where he was pronounced dead after resuscitation efforts.

"We saw the wounded man lying unconscious without a pulse and not breathing and suffering from penetrating injuries to his body," said Magen David Adom (MDA) medic Malek Abu Arara.

"We immediately started performing resuscitation operations, placed him in an MDA intensive care unit, and evacuated him to the hospital in critical condition while continuing the resuscitation efforts."

Previously targeted 18-year-old boy killed in Rahat

In Rahat, an 18-year-old boy was killed in a shooting, with police launching an investigation shortly afterward. The victim had been lightly injured in a shooting about two weeks ago.

According to the Abraham Initiatives, 177 Arab individuals have been killed in acts of crime and violence in Israel since the beginning of 2023. (Two additional Arabs were wounded in 2022 and succumbed to their wounds in 2023 and one Arab was shot and killed by police.) In the same period last year, 80 Arabs were killed in acts of crime and violence in Israel.

Later in the night, a 20-year-old man was seriously injured in a violent incident in Barta'a and a 62-year-old man was seriously injured after being shot in Daliyat al-Karmel in northern Israel.
