Balad criticizes Palestinian leadership for the first time

Balad criticizes Palesti

Israeli Arab political party Balad will hold a meeting calling for the resignation of Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, according to a statement released by the party on Tuesday. During the meeting, to be held on Saturday, party members will outline grounds for the resignation of the Palestinian leadership and Abbas in particular, centering on the deferral of the UN Goldstone Commission report vote. Balad's initiative was meant to encourage Abbas to evaluate his actions and act accordingly, Israel Radio reported. In the statement, Balad representatives claimed that by making the decision, Abbas had "covered up the crimes of the occupier." It marks the first time that an Israeli Arab party has questioned the central Palestinian government.
