Bank of Israel unveils new faces for New Israeli Shekels

Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer has decided on four new figures to submit to the Advisory Committee on the Design of Bills, the Bank of Israel announced Sunday.
The four figures to be submitted were Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Rabin, Shai Agnon and the Poet Rachel.
The announcement put out by the Bank of Israel said that after a many discussions and a long consultation process with the Advisory Committee, Fischer decided to combine politics and culture. He chose the "two statesmen that signed peace treaties with our neighbors, and two prominent figures from the field of literature and poetry."
The Bank of Israel plans to begin issuing the new series of bills in 2012. The NIS 20, 50, 100 and 200 bills will all undergo redesign and will contain "security and identification marks, which are the most advanced in the world, in order to make them more difficult to forge."
